I also stitched this newer pattern - JOY recently. I used DMC Variations floss in purple shades for the large Joy in the center. I chose matching solid shades for the verses. I really like the results.

The floss for the joy picture was DMC variegated #51, purple #327, and lavender #209. The 'Joy" picture reminds me what God wants for me every day.

Our women's Bible study was in the book of John and one of the focus verses was John 15:11 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you and that your joy may be full." There followed a list of several other verses related to "Joy". Upon reflection on these verses as well as how I had named this business "Joyful Expressions", I did a more in-depth study of the word "Joy" and it's meaning in the Bible.

I found this definition of Joy..it is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence and hope. It is something or someone that provides a source of happiness. It appears 88 times in the Old Testament in 22 books; 57 times in the New Testament in 18 books.

I wanted to capture some of the most meaningful Bible verses related to "Joy" and developed this design. I have included Bible verses in this order, Psalm 35:9, John 15:11, Psalm 32:11, I John 1:4, Habakkuk 3:18, Nehemiah 8:10, Psalm 16:11 and Jeremiah 15:16.

I alternated the floss colors slightly between each Bible verse transition so that each would be distinguishable. I'm really pleased at how nice this design turned out and particularly how many verses were included in one design!

Joy Stitched by Judy Lipcsak

I really like your patterns. I gave "The Names of Jesus" to a minister friend and "Joy" was a gift to another minister that I work with.

When I stitched "Joy" I used DMC 4245 variegated floss for the word Joy and the colors that make up 4245 (550, 791, 796, 939) for the verses.

When I use variegated floss, I stitch diagonal rows. It can be harder to count but I think the color change is nicer.

Blessings,

Judy
